Upon first arriving here, the Sonoma Valley Wine Country strikes many as a place where there are many diamonds in the rough. The entire valley probably qualified as such a few decades ago, but it has long since been discovered. Still, there are places and institutions in the valley that deserve more attention than they get, one of which is Kenwood Community Church.

Our Church is on one of two plazas in Kenwood, on Warm Springs Road, south and east of Highway 12. The other is on the highway, and houses the Post Office, the Kenwood Press, a store and a restaurant. The founders had visions of the plaza on Warm Springs Road becoming the town square, as in so many New England and Midwestern towns. In time, a large hotel was erected there, but no other commercial buildings, as most business owners refused to move from the highway, leaving the little white church as the only public building across the street from the northeastern border of the square.
